Laureen Peeters
Laureen grew up in Switzerland, where she studied veterinary medicine and graduated in 2009 from the Vetsuisse Faculty of the University of Bern. She subsequently completed a doctoral thesis on cytochrome P450 enzymes in horses, followed by an internship in small animal internal medicine at the Small Animal Clinic of the University of Bern Veterinary Hospital. She then completed her training as a clinical pathologist at the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) and passed the board examination of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (Clinical Pathology) in 2015. Laureen remained at the RVC for a further four years as a lecturer in clinical pathology, where her main responsibilities included hematology and cytological diagnostics, as well as teaching undergraduate students and residents. During this period, she obtained a postgraduate certificate in veterinary education. In 2018, Laureen received the Early Career Award from the American Society of Veterinary Clinical Pathology. Since August 2019, Laureen Peters has been working at the central diagnostic laboratory of her alma mater, the Vetsuisse Faculty in Bern, Switzerland. She divides her time between diagnostic service, research, and teaching activities.
Laureen wuchs in der Schweiz auf, wo sie Tiermedizin studierte und 2009 an der Vetsuisse-Fakultät der Universität Bern abschloss. Anschließend verfasste sie ihre Doktorarbeit über Cytochrom-P450-Enzyme beim Pferd, gefolgt von einem Internship in der Kleintier-Inneren Medizin an der Kleintierklinik des Tierspitals der Universität Bern. Danach absolvierte sie ihre Weiterbildung zur klinischen Pathologin am Royal Veterinary College (RVC) und bestand 2015 die Fachprüfung zur Diplomate des American College of Veterinary Pathologists (Klinische Pathologie). Laureen blieb weitere vier Jahre am RVC als Dozentin für klinische Pathologie, wo ihre Hauptaufgaben in der Hämatologie und zytologischen Diagnostik sowie in der Lehre von Studierenden und Resident:innen lagen. In dieser Zeit erwarb sie zudem ein postgraduales Zertifikat in veterinärmedizinischer Lehre. Im Jahr 2018 erhielt Laureen den Early Career Award der American Society of Veterinary Clinical Pathology. Seit August 2019 arbeitet Laureen Peters im zentralen Diagnostiklabor ihrer Alma Mater, der Vetsuisse-Fakultät in Bern, Schweiz. Dort teilt sie ihre Tätigkeit zwischen diagnostischer Arbeit, Forschung und Lehre auf.
