Triaditis in cats is a complex condition characterized by simultaneous inflammation of the liver (cholangitis), pancreas (pancreatitis), and small intestine (chronic enteropathy). Correct recognition and treatment of this condition are crucial for a successful outcome. However, obtaining a definitive diagnosis can be challenging, as it often requires biopsy sampling of all three organ systems.

In this practical continuing education course, specifically developed for practicing veterinarians, you will receive a comprehensive and clear overview of the pathogenesis, clinical presentation, diagnosis, and treatment of triaditis in cats. The course is designed to be highly practical and focuses on providing directly applicable tools to help clinicians recognize and manage this condition in everyday practice.

The training takes a minimum of 2 hours to complete and consists of several chapters containing short videos of a pre-recorded PowerPoint presentation. Participants will also receive handouts of the complete course. In addition, the course provides practical guidance on the placement of an esophagostomy feeding tube, as well as an information sheet for owners on the care of esophagostomy tubes.

Participants can ask questions via email or through the online forum.

After graduating as a veterinarian in 2006 from the University of Ghent, Geert completed an internship and a residency in internal medicine of companion animals. Until 2012, she worked with great pleasure at the university in Ghent, while in her spare time she worked as a tour guide and met her Canadian husband. In 2012 she moved to Western Canada where she first worked for two years as a primary care veterinarian and in 2015 switched back to emergency and referral veterinary medicine. During her years in primary care veterinary medicine, she gained enormous respect for the work as a 'practice veterinarian' and also realizes that 'the ideal scenario' does not always exist and that we as veterinarians have to be flexible.

Geert has been a diplomate of the European college of veterinary internal medicine (ECVIM-ca) since 2017. She is (co)author of several scientific publications. Because Geert is passionate about teaching, she founded OVT in 2019 with the aim of supporting veterinarians and veterinary assistants as much as possible with accessible, high-quality and practically applicable training materials. In addition to working for OVT, she also works as a teleconsultant and as a specialist at Boundary Bay Veterinary Specialty Hospital in Surrey, Canada.
