In this course, we explore the most important neurological emergencies you may encounter in clinical practice. The focus is on conditions where rapid assessment, appropriate stabilisation, and timely referral can make a significant difference to the patient’s prognosis.

Topics include head trauma, acute paralysis of the hind limbs or all four limbs, tail-pull injuries in cats, and spinal fractures.

The course addresses practical questions such as:

• What is the first-line approach to a dog or cat with head trauma?
• Which prognostic factors can be identified during the neurological examination of a cat with a tail-pull injury, and is tail amputation always necessary?
• When should a paralysed dog be referred for further investigation, and what should you focus on during the neurological examination?
• What are the key priorities in the initial management of a spinal fracture?

The one-hour webinar consists of pre-recorded video presentations. You can submit questions to the lecturer via the online forum. Handouts are included, and the course concludes with a final test.
